I got exactly what I thought I would out of this class, a basic
background of web design. Class was pretty interesting, and the easiest
thing I've taken since 8th grade. Take this class for a math distro in
medill. / Gooch is perhaps my favorite professor in the past four
years--his emphasis on self-learning is awesome and he brings such
enthusiam and care to the classroom/ You will learn a lot of cool
stuff. There are no quizzes or tests which is also very nice./ Real
easy class. No tests and 8 homework assignments that take under an hour
each. Easiest class i've taken at NU. The subject is also interesting
and you learn a lot. You don't need any experience with computers so
don't worry about that. / This class was awesome. It was a nice break
from my hader techie classes, and I learned about something I was
interested in. It's an easy/fun A! Gooch rocks. / This was probably one
of the most useful courses I have taken at NU. Prof gooch is really
great and I enjoyed this course very much./ Easy class. Gooch is
hilarious, take this class with him. Weekly assignments that are fun
more than they are an assignment./ So easy- you just copy what the prof
shows you in class and rearrange it a little to make it your own for
most assignments. really easy tech elective and you learn basic
webpage-making skills. you dont even really have to go to class/ Prof.
Gooch is a pretty cool guy. If you already have some experience with
web design, the class is pretty easy, and the lectures can be boring
because of their simplicity. But the prof is always more than willing
to help you out if you have a problem with your work, and it's a really
great atmosphere for learning./ I walked into this class not even
knowing what html was and now I at least know what it stands for. This
class is definitely an easy A, but it's a blow-off class that's afraid
to embrace it's essence. You have to write/BS a 10 page paper for the
first assignment, which scared some people away. However, if you know
how to copy and paste, the other assignments are simple, especially if
you know anything about creating websites (or befriend someone who
does!) The final project website may consume your life and reading
week, but I would still highly recommend this class. / This class is
great! Be prepared to learn a lot on your own, but that shouldn't deter
you from taking the class./ I found this to be a very fun course. It is
only as demanding as you make it, depending on how you expect your
projects to end up. There's no textbook, you basically teach yourself
using online tutorials you find on Google, but Gooch does talk about
graphics, site development, and asks for feedback from students. Sanjay
is awesome./ Easiest A at Northwestern, but that doesn't make it a good
thing. Gooch is extremely unorganized and underprepared, even for this
simple of a class. Also, he makes a lot of stuff up that is factually
incorrect and/or out of date. Take this class for an A if you must, but
ideally take it with another instructor./ EASY CLASS! Frustrating
teacher. / If you're really interested in web design, you're better off
searching online for tutorials, because this class won't take you much
farther than where you've probably gone on your own. However, it does
provide some good direction and the PHP stuff was interesting. It's an
easy class, but be prepared to spend a lot of time looking at tutorials
and fiddling with code, because Gooch will not explain much in class. /
Great class! Do it!/ The Big Gooch is a great guy. There's never any
pressure because he's flexible and will adjust when things come up. We
would have learned a lot more with some more structure to the class,
but then again, that's just more work./ One assignment per week that
utilizes whatever technique we have learned that week makes this class
a no-brainer. You don't have to go to lecture except on the days when
you might present your page, but that's really just for show. It's an
easy A; just be ready to spend several hours pulling your hair out
trying to figure out why something won't display on your website, only
to find that you put a ";" in your code instead of a ":"--but its worth
the end result because you will be proud of your pages!/ Cool class,
will help you learn basic web design and organization if you don't
already know it, and will help you get into a bit more advanced subject
matter: CSS, pHp, javascript. Good course to take if you have three
other really difficult classes that quarter./ A lot of work outside of
class. Bruce is nice./ This was a good class if you want to learn about
HTML. It's a TON of work think, so you might want to think twice about
taking it as a blow off class. You spend alot of time outside of class
just trying to teach yourself the material, but you do learn alot abotu
HTML. / Prof. Gooch is quite an entertaining lecturer, and he makes his
class a lot of fun./ This class was SOOOO easy. Great distro.
